The night-litany's pile of synonyms for calamity -- 'distress upon distress, breach upon breach,' universal mourning and wailing -- specifically answers the dream's own pile of synonyms, 'a day of darkness and gloom, affliction and distress, oppression and great confusion,' beyond anything in MT.
