Here the Greek inserts Addition D: Esther before the king. Its units:

  • D 1 — On the third day, Esther exchanges her mourning clothes for royal splendor.
  • D 2 — Radiant, calling on God, she takes her two maids to lean on.
  • D 3 — She blushes with beauty, her face joyful though her heart is gripped by fear.
  • D 4 — She passes through every door and stands before the enthroned, splendidly clothed king.
  • D 5 — The king's face burns with anger at the sight of her; she collapses in a faint.
  • D 6 — God turns the king's anger to gentleness; he catches her and reassures her, 'you shall not die.'
