Esther 8:12

בְּי֣וֹם אֶחָ֔ד בְּכׇל־מְדִינ֖וֹת הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ אֲחַשְׁוֵר֑וֹשׁ בִּשְׁלוֹשָׁ֥ה עָשָׂ֛ר לְחֹ֥דֶשׁ שְׁנֵים־עָשָׂ֖ר הוּא־חֹ֥דֶשׁ אֲדָֽר׃

Here the Greek inserts Addition E: The king's second letter. Its units:

E 1 — The edict's address: king to all satraps and loyal officials.
E 2 — Reflection: those honored too much grow arrogant and turn on their benefactors.
E 3 — They forget gratitude and think to escape God's justice.
E 4 — Trusted officials' persuasion has made many share in innocent bloodshed.
E 5 — Malice deceives the sincere good faith of rulers.
E 6 — One sees this not from old histories but from recent impious deeds.
E 7 — The king resolves to judge circumstances more equitably going forward.
E 8 — Haman, a Macedonian foreigner, was raised to second place in the kingdom.
E 9 — Unable to bear this, he plotted to destroy Mordecai, Esther, and their nation.
E 10 — His hidden aim: to shift the empire from the Persians to the Macedonians.
E 11 — The king finds the Jews innocent, living by just laws, sons of the living God.
E 12 — The king voids Haman's letters; Haman has already been crucified with his household.
E 13 — New order: let the Jews defend themselves on 13 Adar.
E 14 — God turns this day from destruction into joy for the chosen people.
E 15 — The Persians are to keep this day as a festival of salvation.
E 16 — Any city that disobeys will be destroyed by spear and fire.
